(Stupid) Activists stone shops with English boards

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Police remained mute spectators in several areas including Brigade Road when a group of stupid Kannada activists damaged shops displaying signboards in English on Tuesday.
Activists went from one area to another on motorcycles and autorickshaws and damaged showcases and other property. They started from Chickpet and came to Brigade Road where six shops were stoned, DCP (Central) G B Chebbi said. “We have arrested six persons,” he added.
When the activists were attacking shops on Brigade Road, a bus load of policemen from the City Armed Reserve were stationed at the Brigade Road-M G Road intersection to keep a watch on trouble makers. They were posted there after the terrorist attack in New Delhi. “If they cannot stop somebody armed with weapons, how can they stop terrorists who come discretely and plant bombs,’’ a trader from Brigade Road said.
“My shop, which is located near Malleswaram police station, has been attacked causing a damage of Rs 2 to 3 lakh,” a jeweller said. The miscreants went near Forum Mall and pelted stones at several shops. “A policeman was standing here when they were attacking us,” another shopper near Jyothi Nivas College said.
More than 40 shops including a car showroom near Cauvery junction were also damaged.
